Caterham has released its latest Superlight Seven model, the R300. Powered by a 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine, tweaked by Caterham Powertrain to produce 175bhp, the new R300 will sprint to 60mph in 4.5 seconds.
The new R300 weighs a mere 515kg, just 15kg more than CAR’s long-term 1.6-litre Superlight. Combined with the new 175bhp engine, the R300 has a power-to-weight ratio of 339bhp-per-tonne – a Porsche 911 Carrera S has a mere 270 by comparison.
RM Auctions recorded a 100 percent sell-through rate at its Vintage Motor Cars of Hershey (Pa.) event. With more than 140 vehicles featured, the auction house posted $8.8 million in total sales. There was worldwide interest for the cars as bidders on the phone and the Internet represented 18 different countries, including Argentina, Turkey and Australia.
Chevy Volt to take on Vauxhall Ampera in Europe
They’ve been hyped for a very long time – the Chevy Volt and Vauxhall Ampera – and 2011 is the year that both hit the roads. You don’t have to be an out and out petrolhead to know that Chevrolet have built the Volt for the North American market and that the Vauxhall Ampera (OK, Opel Ampera too) is for the European market.
